Sprouting Pavilion

The purpose for this project is to investigave the relationship between the body and nature. Humans have a specific way of moving in the natural environment and relating to it. After documenting a specific area of the High School Park through qualitative and quantitative studies using the body, each student chose a section of the site to further develop.

The collected data was digitized and analyzed to develop the qualities of each section. One of the qualities expressed by this section was the idea of growth. By using a succession of repetitive modules, a model was made to emulate the idea of growth. In fact, with different angles of folds, it is possible to mimic the look a sprouting seed, thus relating to the environment.

The final model is a pavilion that was supposed to appear as growing in an organic way following the topography of the site. The idea of growth is represented by the instances where the model appears to grow out of the site, but also on itself. These moments generate various spaces that allow different types of activities and movements.
